Hi all! Welcome to/back to Shortlisted!
Today marks the end of le SUD the TOUR (part one at least!) and to celebrate, this month’s shortlist is also going on tour! By which I mean, as I’ve been on the road across the US (+ Canada) for the past two+ months chatting/hosting/celebrating the book (which just got named Amazon’s #1 best cookbook of 2024 so far!!), I’ve also been eating and drinking and staying in some incredible places. I can’t wait to share them with you! So, rather than focus on one city shortlist this month, we’re focusing on ALL the le SUD the TOUR city stops: NYC/BK, DC, Toronto, Chicago, Oshkosh, Seattle, Portland, Oakland/San Francisco+, and Los Angeles. I did what I could to keep these tight aka limited to where I actually ate / drank / shopped this time around in each place. And if we got to meet in any of these cities, THANK YOU for coming out, I hope you had as fine a time as I did!

PS my dear friends at Casa Bosques and I collaborated on a le SUD chocolate that I’m fully obsessed with. Inspired by the south of France (in particular roughly cut bars of savon de Marseilles, slabs of honeyed nougat studded with nuts and, bien sûr, the sea), le SUD in chocolate form is a lush, textural combination of toasted pistachios, fleur de sel, and lavender honey barely contained in a 70% dark chocolate shell and you can order yours here.

King [a le SUD the TOUR stop!] We kicked off the public launch of le SUD at King and Jess Shadbolt and her phenomenal team surprised me by making XL versions of La Tropezienne (p232). It remains a peak bite/tour moment for me. Go here for lunch, go for dinner, go for drinks at the bar. The menu changes daily and there’s always something truly spectacular.
Cervo’s what I would do to have a standing reservation at Cervo’s. It’s the shrimp heads, fries, some kind of salad, and couple glasses of vermouth and/or natural wine for me.
The Four Horsemen possibly my favorite date night spot in the world? Sit at the bar, drink good wine, order everything. (If the sticky toffee pudding is on the menu, Laila would be offended if you *didn’t* order it.)
La Cabra Bakery favorite coffee + canelé + cardamom buns in the East Village. Speaking of coffee, Rhythm Zero is my favorite coffee shop when I’m in Greenpoint. And speaking of Greenpoint, don’t miss Radio Bakery + Taku Sando.
